WACRAD storms Lunzu with the gospel
The Word Alive Commission for Relief and Development
(WACRAD), a developmental arm of Word Alive Ministries
International on Saturday, October 22 won 135 people
into God’s kingdom through a crusade the arm held in
Lunzu, a remote township of Blantyre District under its
Restoring Hope Project.
Apart from the ministry of God’s word by Pastor Noel
Malemia of Word Alive Blantyre Assembly, renowned
Malawi’s gospel artists, Frank Chimpanzi and Ruth Missi
mesmerized the crowd of people that gathered at
AQUAID community ground in the area of Group Village
Headman Undani with their anointed melodies.
In an interview with Word Alive Media soon after the
four-hour revival meeting, WACRAD Associate Director
Petros Abbas said the gospel crusade was aimed at
reaching out the communities with the good news of the
Lord Jesus Christ. He observed that the current social
and spiritual problems affecting human beings can only
be dealt with if the gospel is entrusted to the people.
“We believe the message of the Cross is the only hope
to this dying world, hence our coming here to preach it,”
said Abbas.
The Restoring Hope Project exists to transform the lives
of people spiritually by building hope and enhancing
spirituality among people infected and affected by
HIV/AIDS and other vulnerable people. And it was very
encouraging, however to note that most of those that
committed their lives to the Lord at the crusade were
young people of between the ages of 17 to 25.
John Ali is aged 17 and he surrendered his life to the Lord
after the word that was preached pierced through his
heart. He told this reporter that he is now hopeful of a
glorious life ahead of him as he had heard that Jesus
changes lives.
Emily Banda is 18 years old and she was among those
that bid farewell to kingdom of darkness at the crusade.
She was quick to confide in Word Alive Media that the
message that was preached touched her life, that she
later had no choice but to try a new life in Jesus.
The 19 year old Bertha Mpesi was very excited that she
now has a new beginning in the Lord. She said she has
been rejected by her own relations and life has not been
rosy for her. But a smile on her face told a story of
someone who has been positively affected by the love of
Jesus.
During ministration of God’s word, Pastor Malemia shared
from the book of Luke chapter 16 from verse 19 to 31.
He took his time to teach and preach from the passage and
after an altar call for salvation, he prayed for those that
were sick and oppressed.
The crusade was well attended by the villagers, chiefs,
religious leaders as well as WACRAD stakeholders.
WACRAD’s Restoring Hope Project is implementing its
activities in the area of Traditional Authority Kapeni in
Blantyre District. The project is being funded by Engage
HIV of South Africa.
