Excitement gripped the popular Kabula room of Ryalls Hotel in the city of Blantyre in the afternoon of Thursday, July 9th as Word Alive’s Mkokomo bottled water was finally released to flow on the market.

The room which was fully decorated by Mkokomo color (blue) and labels contained a number of business gurus who came to witness the launch of the bottled water in the presence of media practitioners.

Speaking to journalists at the launch, Managing Director of Mkokomo
Limited, Rev Zacc Kawalala said it is a joy that now at last Mkokomo
has been launched. He said the water project is aimed at meeting
the needs of the underprivileged who among others are the
orphans and the elderly.

“We are excited that today we are launching Mkokomo water. Let it
be known to you reporters that none of us is salaried from the
profits of Mkokomo. The proceeds are meant to assist the communities
that are underprivileged,” said Rev Zacc and continued “as a church
we are running various charitable projects and we cannot rely on donor aid forever, we want to be self reliant.”

Briefing journalists earlier, Chairman of the task force committee of Mkokomo Limited, Dr Jess Bates who is an elder of Word Alive Blantyre Assembly said Mkokomo bottled water is very unique in sense that it is pure natural water.

“Our water is very unique. Its uniqueness lies on the fact that it is pure natural water, its profits are for the underprivileged, we have close working relationship with the Malawi Bureau Standards and above all, as a company, we strive for high standards,” said Dr Bates.

He added that Mkokomo is an attractive product to buy for any
use.

He told reporters that the company envisions being the main
supplier of natural mineral water in Malawi.

The launch of Mkokomo is one of the strides made so far since
the inception of the company in 2006. The water is being bottled
at the church’s farm in Lunzu, a town located almost 30 minute
drive from Blantyre.

Mkokomo Limited is a subsidiary of Word Alive Ministries
International. The name Mkokomo originates from the scriptures in the book of Revelation 1.5 where the voice of Jesus is being described as sound of many waters.

On retail Mkokomo is being sold at K60.00 per bottle and on wholesale the water is going at K940.00 per crate.
The media launch will be followed by several in-store sampling promotions in various outlets which will be conducted by Business Advertising Agency.
